The Southern Railway has released the timetable for the Kerala’s First Vande Bharat Express. The train, which has been allowed a two-minute stop at Shoranur Junction in Thrissur, will not stop at Tirur station in Malappuram and Chengannur in Alappuzha. Additionally, the train will not operate on Thursdays. The Railway Board has issued an order allowing the train to stop at Shoranur, bringing the total number of stops in Kerala to nine, including the source and destination stations.
The addition of Shoranur as a stop has been welcomed by several leaders, including Palakkad MP VK Sreekandan, who had previously advocated for a Shoranur stop. The MP had emphasized the importance of Shoranur as a transportation hub for three districts.
The regular services of the Vande Bharat Express as Train No. 20633-Kasaragod Thiruvananthapuram Central Vande Bharat Express and Train No. 20634-Thiruvananthapuram Central Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express have been introduced by the Indian Railway Board. Commencing from April 26, 2023, Train No. 20633 (except Thursdays) will depart from Kasaragod at 14:30 hrs (2:30 PM) and reach Thiruvananthapuram Centra (Trivandrum) at 22:35 hrs (10:35 PM) on the same day, while Train No. 20634 (except Thursdays) will leave Thiruvananthapuram Central (Trivandrum) at 05:20 hrs (5:20 AM) from April 28, 2023 and arrive at Kasaragod at 13:25 hrs (1:25 PM) on the same day.
The Vande Bharat Rake with 16 coaches will be used to operate these trains. The schedule and stoppages for Train No. 20633/20634 Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Central-Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express have also been provided for passenger convenience. The duration of train journey from both sides will be 8 hours and 5 minutes.

The flag-off ceremony for the Vande Bharat Express is scheduled for April 25th, 2023, at 10:30 am, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. However, the Prime Minister will not be part of the inaugural ride. The train timetable has also been released, with the train stopping for three minutes at Ernakulam Town and two minutes at other halting stations.
