The Northern Railway (NR) has officially announced the inauguration of the second Vande Bharat Express, connecting Varanasi and New Delhi. Scheduled for a grand flag-off ceremony by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 2:15 pm on December 18, the train brings a distinct saffron color to its exterior, marking it as the second of its kind nationwide.
Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express Amenities: The new Vande Bharat Express boasts superior passenger amenities, including cutting-edge features to enhance the travel experience. According to the Railway Ministry source, it is the second saffron-colored Vande Bharat train introduced nationwide. Notable features include:

The statement further highlights the train’s advanced heat ventilation and air-conditioning system, equipped with a UV lamp for germ-free air supply. The intelligent air-conditioning system adjusts cooling according to climate conditions and occupancy.
Inaugural Run and Regular Operation: The inaugural run of the Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express is set for December 18 at 2:15 pm. During regular operation, the train will depart from Varanasi at 6:00 am for New Delhi six days a week, excluding Tuesdays. The train is scheduled to reach New Delhi at 2:05 pm. It will depart from New Delhi at 3:00 pm and arrive at its destination, Varanasi, by 11:05 pm.
Comparatively, the first Vande Bharat train, currently operating between New Delhi and Varanasi, departs from New Delhi at 6:00 am, reaching Varanasi Junction at 2:00 pm. It then departs from Varanasi Junction at 3:00 pm and arrives back at New Delhi by 11:00 pm, operating six days a week, excluding Thursdays.
The inauguration of this saffron-colored Vande Bharat Express follows the earlier launch of the saffron-grey variant on September 24, connecting Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Both launches are part of the Railways’ ambitious plan to enhance connectivity and provide state-of-the-art amenities to passengers.
